Linux kernel是美国Linux基金会发布的开源操作系统Linux所使用的内核。NFSv4 implementation是其中的一个分布式文件系统协议。 Linux kernel 3.3之前版本中的VFAT文件系统实现中存在缓冲区溢出漏洞。通过在文件系统上执行带有utf8加载项的VFAT写操作，而其在UTF-8转换为UTF-16的过程中未受到正确的处理，本地攻击者利用该漏洞获得特权或导致拒绝服务（系统崩溃）。
