EZCast Pro Firmware Security Bulletin: Fixes CVE-2025-13955/13954 and Password Policy Enhancements

Vulnerability Overview The firmware release for EZCast Pro Dongle II and EZCast Pro Box II addresses significant security enhancements related to password protection and wireless network security. The update strengthens existing password protection mechanisms to mitigate potential vulnerabilities and improve overall system security. Additionally, as a response to Red Hat’s updated Wi-Fi password policies, additional security measures have been implemented to ensure compliance with the latest password requirements. These changes aim to enhance protection against unauthorized access while maintaining system stability and reliability. Affected Scope EZCast Pro Dongle II EZCast Pro Box II Remediation Mandatory Administrator Password Change: In accordance with Red-Da security requirements, users must change their password after logging in. The complexity requirements for the new password have also been increased. Enhanced Default Wi-Fi Security: The default Wi-Fi password is now more secure and no longer uses a simple 8-character format. Wi-Fi Password Visibility: Users who continue to use the default Wi-Fi password and retain it in the UI should be aware of these security changes. Existing Custom Credentials: If the administrator or Wi-Fi password has already been changed, those settings will be preserved and remain unaffected by these changes. Connection Issues: If you encounter connectivity issues after updating the firmware, reset the device to factory defaults and reconfigure it. Fixed CVE-2025-13955/CVE-2025-13954 New Features AWDL & P2P Support in Firmware 1.17478.183: Support for AWDL (Apple Wireless Direct Link) has been added, enabling direct P2P functionality for AirPlay and Miracast. Direct P2P Casting: Cast directly to the Dongle II without joining the local Wi-Fi network. Performance: Bypasses network infrastructure to reduce latency and congestion. Compatibility: - Apple: AirPlay P2P via AWDL - Windows/Android: Standard Miracast P2P Notes Google Cast does not support P2P mode. For instructions, please refer to the manual below.
