Tenda Router Latest Version JD12L Pro V16.03.53.23 - Buffer Overflow in /goform/WifiGuestSet #2 Vulnerability Overview Vulnerability Type: Buffer Overflow Affected Product: Tenda Router Latest Version JD12L Pro V16.03.53.23 Vulnerable Endpoint: /goform/WifiGuestSet Vulnerability Description: A critical buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the application's endpoint. The vulnerability resides within the function, which uses the function to parse the parameter from the incoming request. The issue arises because employs an unbounded format specifier when handling the parameter and does not verify the size of the destination buffer. Given that the buffer is extremely small, an attacker can provide an excessively large value to overwrite adjacent stack memory. This unsafe use of allows an attacker to trigger memory corruption, hijack program execution, or cause an application crash, posing a high risk that requires immediate remediation. Impact Scope Denial of Service (DoS): Crashes the Web server process and renders the device's management interface inaccessible. Arbitrary Code Execution: Overwrites the return address on the stack to redirect program execution to shellcode, enabling the attacker to take full control of the device. Information Disclosure: Exposes sensitive information stored in the device's memory. Successful Exploitation: Attackers can take over the router, monitor network traffic, or use it as a pivot point to attack other devices within the network. Remediation 1.
